Limiting Domain Wall Energy
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the asymptotic limit of a family of functionals related to the theory of micromagnetism in two dimensions. We prove a compactness result for families of uniformly bounded energy. After studying the corresponding one-dimensional prooles, we exhibit the ?-limit (\wall-energy") which is a variational problem on the folding of solutions of the eikonal equation jrgj = 1. We prove that the minimal wall-energy is twice the perimeter.

Uniqueness of one-dimensional Néel wall profiles.
We study the domain wall structure in thin uniaxial ferromagnetic films in the presence of an in-plane applied external field in the direction normal to the easy axis. Using the reduced one-dimensional thin-film micromagnetic model, we analyse the critical points of the obtained non-local variational problem. We prove that the minimizer of the one-dimensional energy functional in the form of th...
متن کاملDomain walls in the quantum transverse Ising model.
We discuss several problems concerning domain walls in the spin-S Ising model at zero temeprature in a magnetic field, H/(2S), applied in the x direction. Some results are also given for the planar (y-z) model in a transverse field. We treat the quantum problem in one dimension by perturbation theory at small H and numerically over a large range of H. We obtain the spin-density profile by fixin...

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...
متن کاملDomain wall properties of FePt: From Bloch to linear walls
An investigation of the orientation and temperature dependence of domain wall properties in FeP! is presented. We use a microscopic, atomic model for the magnetic interactions within an effective, classical spin Hamiltonian constructed on the basis of spin density functional theory. We find a significant dependence of the domain wall width and the domain wall energy on the orientation of the wa...
متن کاملStrain-controlled magnetic domain wall propagation in hybrid piezoelectric/ferromagnetic structures
The control of magnetic order in nanoscale devices underpins many proposals for integrating spintronics concepts into conventional electronics. A key challenge lies in finding an energy-efficient means of control, as power dissipation remains an important factor limiting future miniaturization of integrated circuits. One promising approach involves magnetoelectric coupling in magnetostrictive/p...
